Description: Millions of children are engaged in child labor in India, in an increasingly growing number every year. And with that, millions of childhood dreams are never realized as a result of a lack of education. Baitullah is the story of one such child, with a dream, surviving in the maddening metropolis of Mumbai, waiting for someone to notice.
There are an estimated 18 million children working on the streets of India instead of getting a decent education. They’re all around us and we’ve become so accustomed to it that nobody really bats an eye until they hear the words ‘child labor’.
These children have been denied their basic right to have an education, an education that could result in thousands of fulfilled dreams. I wanted to make a film on this subject for a long time, and through this film, I’ve tried to, in my own small way, bring attention to this problem we have in our society.
