Description: His posters - Gone with The Wind, West Side Story, Casablanca, Ben Hur and so forth - inspired many generations of viewers even before the movies were released. As a prolific artist, he spent the 20th century with the pencil in his hand, working every day until he was 95. This documentary is a journey across his life and the imaginary of the 20th century.
There has been a time, and it seems like a century ago, where the streets were a great photoromanz. All carpeted with movie posters. The red lips of Rosalind Russell, Ava Gardner's breast, the virile, frowned, heroic expressions of the diva with the gun. Liz Taylor on the rooftop roof(On a Hot Tin Roof), Sterling Hayden among the skyscrapers of the Asphalt Jungle ... The posters were the only thing to look at, a story along the streets, the only color spots among the rubble of a rebuilding Italy.
The man who, along with a few others, depicted this infinite photoromanz is a Florentine: Silvano Campeggi, 'Nano' for all.
Silvano Campeggi, alias Nano, was the last great cinema illustrator.
