Description: This fascinating biopic details the last six months of the life of the political activist Jan Palach, the Czech student who self-immolated in protest against the invasion of Czechoslovakia which crushed the Prague Spring in 1968.
The film recreates events based on the available source material about his life and speculates about what might have been going through Palach's mind at the time.
Just as public life, the appearance of the streets, and the people were all changing dramatically in the autumn of 1968, so too was something happening with Jan. How come no one - his girlfriend, his mother, or his fellow students - noticed anything? Or did they notice, but because everything else was in turmoil too, perhaps they saw Jan's transformation as a natural outgrowth of what was going on around them?
