The Extractigators
Year:  2016
Running Time:  8 minutes
Country:  USA
Genre:  Documentary
Venue:  Playhouse Theater [40 Main Street]
Showtime:   Monday, April 17, 2017 @ 08:00 PM
Director:  Christopher Ruedy

Description:
The Extractigators is a portrait of a group of volunteer French and Scotch Broom pullers in the San Geronimo Valley area of Marin. It is a local group and the film is shot in Marin, but the topic is regional and growing. We see the issue of invasive plants and the harm they pose to our beautiful home, but also get to know a bit about these people and hopefully even see them as an example to be followed.

Director Statement:

"I set out on this project out of respect for the Extractigators, themselves; respect for their dedication to the work, but also respect for the manner in which they go about it. It was my hope that people would see the film and wake up to the problem of invasive plants in our county and region, and then be inspired to do something about it. I also was drawn to the idea that no one should expect to make a difference in this struggle alone, but should find like minded people and go at it as a group or team. I'm not sure if its really a documentary, perhaps its also a portrait with a dash of call to action."
