Vasanth S Sai
Vasanth S Sai is an Indian film director and screenwriter, working in the Tamizh film industry. [Tamizh is one of the major regional languages of India]. Vasanth S Sai began his career as a journalist and short story writer before he began working as an assistant director to legendary Tamizh film Director K. Balachander for 18 films. He made his directorial debut with Keladi Kanmani (Listen, my dear). The film was a major critical and box office success.
He followed it up, among others, with the films like Aasai (Desire), Rhythm, Sathum Podathey (Don’t make a Sound) and Visaranai Commission (Inquiry Commission): based on Tamizh writer Sa.Kandasamy’s Sahitya Academy* winning novel of the same name. He also has directed short films and documentaries. The most renowned of his short films are Thakayin Meethu Nanku Kankal (Just above the pond) adapted from a short story by aforementioned Tamizh writer Sa.Kandasamy. Also in his oeuvre is the documentary Sanath.
His new offering is Sivaranjani and Two Other Women (2018) based on the short stories of iconic Tamizh writers Ashokamitran, Jayamohan, and Aadavan. He has directed a total of 14 feature films,15 short films, and documentaries.
