Gael Métroz
Born in Valais in 1978, Gaël Métroz graduated from Lausanne University (in French, Philosophy and Art History) in 2004. Passionate about literature and travelling, he made a long trip through Ethiopia, the Sudan and Egypt during which he made his first documentary film, L’Afrique de Rimbaud, in 2005. He subsequently went to Burma (2005) and from Switzerland to Sri Lanka via Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, China and India. These journeys resulted in Nomad’s Land – Sur les traces de Nicolas Bouvier.

In addition to his work in film, travelling inspired Gaël Métroz to write numerous articles, which got him short-listed for the Young Francophone Writer Award in 2004. He won the Nicolas Bouvier Prize in 2008 in the «Young Journalist» category as an independent reporter for the Valais daily newspaper Le Nouvelliste.
